Vega Lake State Park is in the high country of western Colorado. It's beautiful there year round, but it truly shines in September, when the aspens begin to turn and the air is crisp and smells of campfires and composting leaves. This painting is of a canal leading from Vega Lake, heading down the mountain to irrigate a vineyard or an orchard or another harvest bounty of some sort. I loved the building storm juxtaposed with the pale yellow aspen leaves.
