ON THE COVER: Poppies by Carol Nelson is featured on the cover of
the Winter 2016 issue of  The Permanente Journal.

This acrylic painting was inspired by a bed of poppies in Breckenridge, CO. Backlit by the sun, they were a tangled riot of color that demanded to be painted. Carol Nelson is a retired medical technologist from the Central Support Laboratory in Denver, CO. Her new career as a professional artist has met with tremendous success and recognition. She teaches art workshops in her CO studio and around the country.
