"MOODY BLUE" Tea Bag Art on Barnwood by Carol Ann Webster Artist

Moody Blue Tea Bag Art on Reclaimed Barn Wood

 8x8x1 $135.00 Available HERE

When I make a piece of tea bag art, my goal is to create a scene that evokes a feeling. This piece, Moody Blue, makes me think of solitude near a river. It started as brewed tea bag treated with vinegar. When vinegar reacts with the tannin in the tea, it turns dark gray.

The feeling of the piece is determined by marks and colors on the tea bag. I added marks made by rusted washers to mimic the sun or moon (your preference). I could see that I wanted to pair these marks and colors with a tiny house made with paper and bits of my dad’s old necktie. I hand-stitched the trees, the birds, beads and the ribbon to make the scene. The background fabric is a scrap of dark blue upholstery fabric machine stitched to the collaged tea bag.

Finally, I used upholstery tacks to attach the fabric collage to the reclaimed barn wood frame. Dimensions: 8inch x 8inch x 1 inch D-rings and coated wire make this signed piece ready to hang.
